ONLY READ THIS SECTION IF YES LINUX IS NOT INSTALLED

YES LINUX INSTALLATION WILL REMOVE/DELETE ALL EXISTING INFORMATION ON THE COMPUTER!!!!!

The first thing to do is relax, everything is going to work and be OK. YES Linux will truly do what is says it can do. Now if you need to install YES Linux please continue, but if YES Linux came preinstalled or a YEA (YourESale Authorized Administrator) installed YES Linux, then you can close the document.

Installation of YES Linux consists of 4 easy steps

  1. Start the Computer

  2. Place the CD in the CDROM

  3. Restart the Machine

The machine should start from the CDROM. You will know if this is happening because you will see a welcome screen where you can type one of 4 options:

    • install

    • install-smp

    • mirror

    • mirror-smp

If you don't see these options then please make sure your machine is setup for starting/booting from a cdrom before the hard drive.

  4. Type one of the options, then hit enter or return key. For most configurations just type "install".

YES Linux installation is now complete, the installation procedure with finish unattended. After the installation is complete just remove the CDRom and restart if needed.

4. Configuration

ONLY READ THIS SECTION IF YES LINUX IS NOT CONFIGURED

YES LINUX WILL REMOVE THE INTRODUCTION APPLICATION IF YOU DON'T FINISH THE PROCESS BEFORE 1 HOUR. IF THIS HAPPENS GO TO THE YES LINUX FORUMS TO SEE HOW TO REINSTALL THE APPLICATION.

Configuration of YES Linux is just as easy as the installation. At most you will need to answer two screens, one from the current computer console and one from another computers web browser. Most configurations will only need the later. During the initial start/boot of YES Linux it tries to locate an IP (Internet Protocol) Address using DHCP, if such an address can't be located then a screen asking for the following will appear:

  • IP Address

  • Subnet Mask

  • Default Gateway

YES Linux provides default values so if in doubt try these values. These values are important because they allow you to finish your configuration from a web browser, if the numbers aren't correct then you wont be able to finish the configuration.

After either providing the information manually or YES Linux finding the information itself you will be show a location where you can finish the configuration. The location will be http:///intro replace with the address you entered. Again YES Linux will display the information on the console for you so don't worry if YES Linux found the information by itself

Once you go to the YES Introduction web site you will be presented with the options start and advanced. Currently only the advanced options available, so click on it and fill in the one page. One note is that YES Linux will create a default website and small business search engine information for you using the information you enter in this form, so it is important that you fill in the information to the best of your ability. The description will be the information that is displayed on the website. Once you are finished filling in the information click the submit button. Once YES Linux is finished processing the information you will be presented with a completion screen.

Once the screen is displayed, you MUST restart YES Linux, the reason is because there are ALOT of internal changes that have taken place, so to make sure everything takes effect a restart is necessary. To restart YES Linux either hit ctrl+alt+delete simultaneously or just turn the machine off and on again.

5. Conclusion

Once you finish the installation and configuration you are now ready to announce your website and email address to the world. One final note to administer YES Linux use the username and password you supplied during the introduction. And to use the web based email go the website http:///webmail or http:///webmail. To Administer YES Linux go to http:///yesadmin or http:///yesadmin. For more information on YES Linux Administration look here https://yeslinux.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=244.
